How to Eat Healthy on a Budget

Being healthy is probably one of the most important things we can do to better our mind, body, and soul. The food you put into your body has such an effect on your physical and mental health and the way you begin to view the world. The largest misconception about eating healthy is that it is very expensive and the food does not taste good. My friends, this is a total lie. Not only is the food delicious, but it costs just around the same amount or even less as the unhealthy food.

A lot of people hear the word healthy and automatically think that the food you are consuming needs to be “organic”. This is false. “Organic” does not mean healthy, organic only means that there are pesticides or antibiotics in the product. If you think about it, why would you spend $3 more dollars just for an organic product when the majority of the time you are not consuming the part that was exposed to the pesticides. For example, you are not eating the skin of an avocado which has been deemed “organic”, you are eating the inside part. Tip of advice on “organic” products, the product is only manufactured from 100% organic products if it is labeled “100$ organic”. Otherwise, the product can be less than 70% organic.

Wegmans is my go to place for finding delicious food that is inexpensive. I somewhat have an advantage because my mom loves shopping there and she cooks for me occasionally. On the other hand, I do enjoy cooking healthy and delicious meals for myself and feeling good about the food I am consuming. Wegmans always has coupons and amazing deals that you can use and receive bonus points to get dollars off! Wegmans offers consistent low prices and continues to lower their prices.

On the nutrition side, Wegmans has healthy recipes on their website that are easy to follow and taste delicious. Their recipes tell you all of the nutrition information along with the ingredients and products you will need which are available right in their store. Wegmans also has what is called “EZ Meals”  that are fresh prepared meals that are ready to cook without any prep work  or cleanup. Another favorite thing of mine that Wegmans offers veggie noodles. The veggie noodles are made from your choice of  zucchini, butternut squash, or sweet potatoes! They are a great substitute for regular pasta and taste even better in my opinion.

P.S. I hope that you guys are now more informed on just how easy it is to eat heathy while still on a budget! Get cooking.
